Minerva is the Roman goddess of wisdom, war, art, schools, justice and commerce, and it is as her aspect of Art, Schools, and Commerce that she would be representative of the Arts and Sciences community. The Candle was chosen as another name element to further evoke the image of the artisan in a workshop toiling into the night on various projects.
